Surgery at Love Animal Hospital & Urgent Care
Our advanced anesthetic procedures integrate cutting-edge technology with compassionate, hands-on care. Each patient receives expert attention from our dedicated surgical team, which includes one veterinarian, two registered veterinary technicians (RVTs), and one veterinary assistant. This allows us to maintain a 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, ensuring that two highly-trained veterinary professionals provide care for every individual hospitalized patient. This careful attention includes continuous monitoring for comfort and safety, compassionate nursing care, and, of course, plenty of affection.
At Love Animal Hospital & Urgent Care, we pride ourselves on upholding the safest anesthetic protocols and maintaining an outstanding safety record. Before any surgical procedure, each patient undergoes a thorough physical examination to assess their overall health. We also conduct lab tests to ensure that liver and kidney functions are within normal limits.

During surgery, one veterinary technician is dedicated to monitoring the patient’s anesthesia. This includes measuring vital signs such as heart rate, EKG, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, body temperature, and carbon dioxide output throughout the entire procedure, until the patient is fully awake. This level of monitoring allows us to address any issues promptly and adjust anesthesia as required for each individual patient. Additionally, an IV catheter is placed for fluid support and rapid medication administration when necessary. To maintain core body temperature, we utilize a Bair Hugger warming blanket during all surgical procedures.
Following surgery, each patient is closely monitored to ensure a comfortable and safe recovery.
Communication is a vital part of our care philosophy. Once the procedure is complete, our veterinarian will contact you to discuss the outcome and schedule your pet’s dismissal time. During this time, all additional questions or concerns will be addressed.
